Title: Communications Intern
Organization: The SADS Foundation
Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndromes (SADS) Foundation Mission: To save the lives of children and young adults who are genetically predisposed to sudden death due to heart rhythm abnormalities. SADS provides education and support to patients and families who are dealing with these disorders. We also distribute educational materials to hospitals, community centers, health care clinics, schools and libraries and sponsor educational programs for physicians and healthcare providers nationwide to raise awareness about the symptoms of these conditions and how to prevent and treat them.
Hours: Commitment of at least 10-15 hours a week; Duration is yet to be determined
Duties:
• Assist with design and implementation of SADS 20th Anniversary campaigns for the general public
• Solicit, organize and write (interview volunteers) volunteer stories for the “20 Years of Stories” campaign
• Assist in reviewing, compiling and publishing SADS Foundation’s history
• Design materials and coordinate mailings, e-mails and other e-communication
• Write articles for newspapers/letters and various media sources, school papers, etc.
• Provide information and resources to volunteers.
• Update and maintain the SADS Foundation story database
Qualifications:
• Strong writing, editing and oral communication skills
• Good computer skills: database and word processing
• Must be organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated
