Hours: M-F 8am-5pm arranged around student's schedule, 19 hours per week, $8.50 per hour.
Duties:
The essential duties for the Production Assistant will be to help the Production Manager with daily tasks including:
- Typesetting books
- Preparing books for print
- Archiving production files (both digital and hard copy)
- Preparing book files for reprint
- Converting print books to ebook and compiling ebook metadata
- Designing marketing and promotional materials as needed
- Other office duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with Adobe Creative Suite: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat
- Comfortable working in a Macintosh environment
- Typesetting, document layout and/or graphic design experience
- Knowledge of printing processes
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Understanding of web technologies such as HTML and CSS is a plus, but not required
- Applicant must submit a portfolio of work samples (class work is acceptable) or provide a link to a portfolio website.
- Applicant must be a student awarded work-study for the current year. Schedule will be arranged Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm with a total of 19 possible hours per week.
