Public Outreach

Title: Public Outreach/Information Intern

Fehr & Peers is currently seeking a student or recent graduate for a communications internship with our firm during the months of May – September 2011.

Organization:

Fehr & Peers Transportation Consultants is a traffic engineering and transportation engineering firm with our Salt Lake office located in Sugar House.

Hours:

The intern would be expected to work 20-25 hours per week on public/stakeholder outreach via social media, public relations, and public outreach activities.

Duties:

Provide support to public information managers as follows:

  • Maintain and update project websites
  • Write blog entries, newsletters, and draft press releases
  • Represent Fehr & Peers at a variety of community outreach events
  • Respond to public inquires as required
  • Coordinate events with the government and public
  • Track media articles on various projects
  • Research prospective stakeholders
  • Creating reports as needed

Skills:

· Current or newly graduated student at a college or university.

· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills are a must.

· Comfort with a wide variety of communications tools is a must

· Demonstrated experience with social media tools

· Strong computer and multimedia skills (Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator etc

· Must be a strong self starter

Compensation: $15/hour
