Title: Communications Intern

Organization: Community Action Partnership of Utah (CAP Utah).

CAP Utah is a downtown Salt Lake City based non-profit working to eradicate poverty in Utah. The mission of CAP Utah is to advocate for, support, and train Utah's CSBG funded agencies, utilizing our collective strength to eradicate poverty.


Hours: Depends on schedule and credit hours needed


Duties: CAP Utah is seeking a communication student (preferably graduate level) to assist the Policy Analyst in developing and executing a marketing plan for two of the organization’s awareness projects. The projects include a photo project that utilizes portraits of clients and quotes to raise awareness of the stories of individuals living in poverty in Utah. The other project is a poverty simulation, which is a kit that helps CAP Utah facilitate an experience aimed at sensitizing individuals to the reality of Utahns living in poverty.

Duties: Develop a marketing proposal for CAP Utah’s photo project and poverty simulation.
• Update project description
• Develop outreach packet
• Develop a marketing strategy for potential consumers (state-wide)
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Skills: Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have a relevant major, and must be seniors, graduate students or have graduated within the last 12 months. They must be proficient in typing, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication. They need good customer service and interpersonal skills, and must be tactful in dealings with people. Discretion, good judgment, organizational and management ability, initiative, and the ability to work independently are especially important.
