For Mass and Speech Comm folks generally, but if you’re interested in Technical Writing this a great opportunity for you!

Organization: Science Olympiad in that it is focused on technical communication

Two students on a team split up in different rooms, and one student views an object (may or may not be abstract) and then creates a set of instructions for how to build the object, step-by-step.

The instructions are passed to the team-mate next door, who, equipped with a pile of (relevant) stuff is charged with reproducing the object strictly from the instructions alone. Judging is a bear. But this event occurs every year, so it is apparently quite popular.

We anticipate you will be working with a total of about 20-25 "writers" and 20-25 "doers" per each of six (one-hour) testing sessions covering both divisions. The B (grade 6-9) and C (grade 9-12) division schedules are attached. Both divisions run concurrently with the only difference between the divisions being in the degree of complexity of the device.

Attaching rules and also a website with some hints:

We are looking for people (students/faculty/staff) who find it so interesting that they just want to help.
