The Salt Lake City Division of Sustainability is currently looking for spring semester interns.

Salt Lake City Green is comprised of award-winning environmental programs that continue to help us conserve resources, reduce pollution, slow climate change and ensure a healthy, sustainable future for Salt Lake City.

All majors are welcome to apply and students in environmental studies, environmental humanities, urban planning, communications and other sustainability-focused majors are especially encouraged.

Project-Specific Internships
Idle Free Outreach Specialists (3-4 Interns)
Skills required: Outgoing, excellent communication skills, ability to work well with a team.
Task: Coordinate with outreach specialists and city staff to educate businesses and other key organizations about Salt Lake City’s new Idle Free Ordinance. Details about the new ordinance.

Air Quality Outreach Coordinator
Skills required: Ability to multi-task, manage projects, and communicate effectively.
Task: Work with Salt Lake City’s Clear the Air programs manager on community outreach programs designed to help improve air quality by reducing vehicle miles travelled in the Salt Lake Valley. More information about Clear the Air Challenge.

SmartTrips Program Assistant
Skills required: Outgoing; Effective communicator, writer and editor; Good working knowledge of active (walking and biking) and public transportation in Salt Lake City
Task: Assist in the development and implementation of a community-based active and public transportation outreach program. This pilot program will be launched in April of 2012.

e2 Citizen Program Specialist
Skills required: Outgoing’ Effective communicator and writer; MS Excel proficiency
Task: Redesign community outreach program that engages Salt Lake City residents in more environmentally responsible behaviors.
Tap It SLC Outreach Specialist
Skills required: Outgoing; Effective communicator; MS Excel proficiency
Task: Recruit business partners for the Tap It SLC program, promote the use of reusable water bottles and tap water over disposable bottled water. Learn more about Tap It SLC.
Multi-disciplinary Internship Opportunities
In addition to the project-specific internships outlined above, there are opportunities available within our office that will provide students with a breadth of experience in numerous areas of sustainability.
