Title: Communications and Public Relations Intern
Organization: U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association
Hours: 15-20 hours a week or full time position (June-Sept)
Duties:
  • Assist in developing and writing news content including researching stories, gathering results and interviewing athletes for web content, social media and newsletters.
  • Assisting in distribution of news content including web posting of articles, pictures, video and other media, email distribution and other electronic distribution and social media channels.
  • Public relations assist with various media activities from researching and updating media contacts and database, collection sport/historical information, to contributing story ideas, drafting fact sheets and press materials.
  • Development and maintenance of distribution lists to stakeholder and media audiences across the country through gathering contacts, building, updating and purging contact lists in email distribution system.
  • Other supports services including general staff support, organizing staff meetings, on-site media support, press office support at local events.

Skills:
  • Must be a college student in communications, public relations, or marketing curriculum
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to determine proper contact categories
  • Strong background in working on web including web content management systems
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Positive, upbeat presence with others, including USSA staff and external contacts
  • Self-sufficient, with ability to manage projects to completion
  • Very strong business computer skills including basics (Word, Excel, email, web)
