Hours: Projected starting date of April 19, 2010 is negotiable. Internship is for five months. Total hours per week is negotiable, from 20 hours minimum to 40 hours maximum, Monday through Thursday, between 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Duties:
The intern works under the supervision of the Energy Emergency Planner and assists professional staff in developing a public information campaign to promote disaster preparedness. Work will include making arrangements for focus groups, designing and writing printed materials and radio/TV public announcement scripts, and performing other duties as assigned. At the onset, the intern will take self-study courses on line, during work hours, to gain knowledge about energy emergencies and emergency management in general. Opportunities may arise for participation in training and exercises related to emergency operations.
Skills:
Candidate must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program and be in good academic standing, having completed basic course work in marketing and communications; and, demonstrate proficiency in writing and oral communication skills, and in the use of Microsoft WORD. Candidate must also be able to work in a team environment that includes representatives of various government agencies and private sector organizations.
